Meet Tom
I’m Tom Staley, founder of Staley Fitness. For over a decade, I’ve helped people build stronger, more capable bodies through structured, evidence-based training.
Before transitioning to remote coaching, I worked as a top trainer at a premier gym in Boston, helping people at many different starting points - whether rebuilding after injury, improving body composition, or developing long-term strength. After my wife and I chose to move our growing family to a quieter, rural setting, I transitioned my coaching fully online - a change that reflected my belief that effective training should adapt to your life, not compete with it.
The setting has changed, but the standard hasn’t - thoughtful programming, precise coaching, and steady progress remain the foundation.
Today, I work primarily with clients who train at home or in their own gym spaces. Some have fully equipped setups; others train with minimal equipment. The environment matters less than having a clear plan and expert guidance tailored to your goals.
My role isn’t just to guide workouts. It’s to help you build strength in a way that fits your schedule, supports your priorities, and holds up over time.
How the Process Works
1. Define Direction
We clarify goals, constraints, and what progress actually means for you.
2. Train With Structure
Programming is built using evidence-based principles and adapted to your life.
3. Adjust Over Time
As goals are reached and circumstances change, the plan evolves - without losing momentum.
4. Build Ownership
You develop clarity and confidence in the process, so progress continues long-term.

”I started working out with Tom to recuperate from ACL surgery. Through hard work and Tom’s coaching, I then realized how important it is to be in shape and stay in shape. Since then, Tom and I set micro goals that both motivate me and frame the focus of our programs. I have been working out with Tom for over 3 years, and I am in the best shape of my life. I can’t imagine a time when his encouragement and physical challenges are not a part of my life!”

“I’ve trained with Tom for over 10 years. Initially I sought a trainer so that I could build muscle in a sustainable way and maintain motivation to go to the gym, even during times of high stress at work. Tom delivered exactly that. His approach is grounded in a strong academic understanding, and he’s always able to clearly explain the rationale behind what we’re doing.
I genuinely enjoy his programming - it keeps things interesting and engaging without ever being overwhelming. I enjoy not having to overthink my workouts as I simply refer to his program on my phone when I’m at the gym. Just as importantly, his programs are highly adaptable, which has been invaluable with a busy schedule and the occasional injury. Tom combines expertise, flexibility, and long-term consistency in a way that’s rare, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.”

“I originally started working with Tom about 9 years ago, as I began to approach retirement, and wanted to get into better physical condition after about 50 years behind desks in my various jobs. Since then I have trained with Tom at least once a week, and usually two times a week. Tom has done a masterful job of building my strength and flexibility without causing any significant injuries and with an acceptable level of muscle fatigue at the end of each workout. I am definitely in much better physical condition now, and am exercising at much higher levels of intensity now than when we started, with improved balance and mobility. Given that things generally go downhill at my age, Tom has not only kept me from aging at the usual pace, but if anything has reversed many aspects of aging. He also has been invaluable in guiding me to exercises and routines that abate or eliminate the side effects of the various hip and shoulder injuries that I have experienced in my other activities (downhill skiing, golf, gardening, etc.), and starts every session asking whether any part of my body is in distress (addressing that first when the answer is positive). On top of all of this, Tom makes the workouts quite enjoyable, as he has a remarkable amount of trivia stored in his enormous brain, running the gamut from comedians of the past (and their best jokes) to a broad understanding of fauna. It has been a joy throughout, and I look forward to continuing as far into the future as I am able.”

“For most of my entire life, I've had zero core strength, and after having three kids, I developed 4-finger diastasis recti. Doctors told me I should never do a single crunch again. I initially started training with Tom just to heal my diastasis recti, but 8 years later, I’m still training with him because it’s been such a life-changing experience. Tom makes remote personal training easy and effective, and he has a way of making you feel completely comfortable and never intimidated. Now, I can do crunches and ab exercises with ease, I’m in by far the best shape of my life in my 40s, and I’m confidently rocking crop tops! Tom helped me heal my core, strengthen my entire body, and achieve a level of fitness I never thought possible."

“I’ve trained with Tom for years, and he's helped me achieve the best fitness of my life. I'm stronger, more capable, and healthier than I ever expected to be at this stage. I’ve recovered from injuries, adapted as my body has changed, and continued to make real gains, even as I've gotten older. What really sets Tom apart is who he is as a coach. He’s thoughtful, observant, and genuinely understands people. Training with him isn’t boot camp, and it’s not coddling either - it’s challenging, smart, and calibrated to where you actually are on any given day. He knows when to push and when to pull back, and that judgment makes all the difference over time. Tom brings a depth of knowledge and perspective to his coaching that goes well beyond sets and reps, but it never feels performative or preachy. The result is that I don’t just leave sessions physically better. I leave stronger, clearer-headed, more focused, and more grounded. At this point, I could probably train on my own. I continue to work with Tom because his presence in my day makes me a healthier, happier, and more capable person overall.”
